The beautiful black mare Carina has a dream pedigree. She's born out of the famous Zanka dam line (KWPN breeding family 401), which brought  lots of national and international sports horses e.g. Ideaal (by Doruto), auction foals, and also some KWPN approved breeding stallions (Landeur, Tolando). The Zanka dam line is at the 29th position in the top 50 of most successful KWPN dressage breeding families (see article).Through Rubinstein I Carina carries blood from the Dodona-line. The Dodona-line has given several world famous international Grand Prix horses, among which Rembrandt (2 x Olympic Champion with Nicole Uphoff), Ahlerich (2 x Olympic Champion with Dr. Reiner Klimke) and Amon (Olympic competitor with Annemarie Keizer). The Dodona-line is being seen as worlds best breeding line for dressage horses.

Carina's sire Florencio became world famous in 2004 and 2005, when he won the World Championships of young dressage horses at Verden.

Carina is born out of the elite/sport mare Narina, who also is the dam of approved KWPN stallion Tolando (he was champion of the KWPN performance test of dressage stallions in spring 2003). Narina is in the top 200 of best KWPN dressage mares in her category, with a dressage index of 161 (KWPN table 2013). Granddam Barina has gained 4 x the Preferent predicate and 4 x the Prestatie predicate through her offspring. Barina is the dam of Grand Prix dressage mare Tarina, successfully showing under Katja Gevers. With a dressage index of 189, also Tarina is in the top 200 of best KWPN dressage mares in her category (KWPN table 2013). In december 2012 two grandsons of Barina passed the 1st inspection of the KWPN stallion approval in Ermelo successfully, and are therefore invited for the 2nd inspection in Den Bosch in february 2013. One of them, a son of Narina named Floret (cat.nr. 341, by Ampère x Rubinstein I x Sultan), also passed the 2nd and 3rd inspection in Den Bosch, and therefore is selected for the 70 days KWPN stallion performance test in Ermelo. The Dutch KWPN magazine "In de strengen" nr. 2/2013 wrote as follows about this young stallion: 
"Ampère-zoon Floret vertegenwoordigt eveneens een sterke stam, en is een halfbroer van de KWPN-goedgekeurde hengst Tolando (v. Krack C) die in de Lichte Tour presteerde. De lijn gaat terug op de merrie Olgarina (v. Epigoon), een halfzus van het bekende topdressuurpaard Ideaal (v. Doruto) van Johan Hinneman. De jeugdige Floret toont souplesse en een mooie voorbeentechniek in beweging."

Carina shows a super attitude, and 3 very promising gaits and a very good natural balance.  In March 2010 she took part in the EPTM mare test in the NHB centre Deurne. She passed successfully with the following scores: 

walk: 8(2x)     trot: 7.5(2x)     canter: 8.5(2x)    suppleness: 7.5    balance: 8.5    rideability: 8    talent for dressage: 8       TOTAL: 80 points

On the KWPN website the following summary of the March 2010 EPTM dressage test was given (in Dutch):

"In de dressuurrichting behaalden drie merries de gewenste score van 75 punten of meer. Uitschieter was hier Carina (v.Florencio uit Narina elite sport(dres) van Rubinstein I, fokker W. Wijnen uit Berlicum) van De Engelse Hoeve v.o.f. uit Grashoek. Een grootramige en goed ontwikkelde merrie die steeds het gewenste beeld laat zien en daarbij in alle gangen een goed achterbeengebruik toont, waarbij de galop het hoogste scoorde. Met een 8,5 voor galop en houding & balans en een 8 voor de aanleg komt ze aan haar totaalscore van 80 punten."

Carina also participated in the KWPN mare inspection in Deurne and earned the STER predicate with 80 points for exterior and 80 points for movements. This qualified her for the CK in Sevenum in july 2010, where she was awarded KEUR. Carina also has a PROK certificate (good x-rays), this in combination with her KEUR predicate makes her an ELITE mare. By obtaining the STER predicate Carina's dam was declared Preferent (now having 2 Ster predicated daughters and a KWPN approved son).

In july 2010 Carina was shown at the KWPN CK in Sevenum, where she became overall champion of the dressage mares! She was upgraded to KEUR and got an invitation for the National NMK in Ermelo in august. The KWPN website wrote as follows:

"Tijdens de stamboekkeuringen was de opwaartse trend bij de dressuurpaarden al gesignaleerd. Regio Limburg heeft een reputatie voor wat betreft goede springpaarden, maar de kwaliteit van de dressuurpaarden bleef steeds nog iets achter. Deze editie kwamen echter goede dressuurmodellen in de baan en hoofd van het juryteam, Arie Hamoen kon winnares Carina dan ook met plezier afvaardigen naar de NMK in augustus in Ermelo. De dochter van Florencio komt via de preferente elite sportmerrie Narina (v. Rubinstein I) uit de moederlijn van de KWPN-goedgekeurde Tolando. Ze is gefokt bij W.Wijnen in Berlicum en nu geregistreerd bij de Engelse Hoeve in Grashoek. In de kampioenskeuring moest zij het opnemen tegen de beste uit de groep 4 t/m 7 jarige stermerries, A Dream. Deze Negro-dochter uit keur sportmerrie Lady V (v. Landwind II B) komt bij M.B.Y.M.Broers vandaan en staat nu geregistreerd bij B.van Kessel uit Weert. A Dream bewoog zeer sterk maar moest qua model toch iets toegeven op Carina en mocht uiteindelijk als tweede opstellen."
